The Department of Political Science of Government College of Arts, Science and Commerce, Khandola organised an Inter-Collegiate Poetry Recitation Competition ‘Poetic Political Ponderings’, on 7th September, 2017. The competition was unique as it tried striking a synergy between politics and literature and aimed at tapping talents of students from different colleges of Goa. A total of twenty participants from eleven colleges participated in the competition. The participants recited poems written by them on day today politics. The political scenario of the world/country and local politics was the broad canvass provided to the students. As the Department believes in freedom of speech, there was no censorship imposed on the poems recited, however the participants exercised responsibility with restrain along with a pinch of humour, thus proving that today’s youth are matured and have a vision for our great nation. The competition was judged by Mr. Dinesh Santineskar, Mr. Naresh Naik and youth leader, Mr. Yugank Naik.

The prize winners were as follows:

  • 1st prize- Koonan Karan Varghese from St. Xavier College Mapusa-Goa
  • 2nd prize-Jayesh P.Gaonkar from G.V.M B.ed College Ponda-Goa
  • 3rd prize- Sulaksha Salkar from Govt. College, Sakhali
  • The consolation prizes were won by Ranjana R.Shetkar from Govt. College Quepem and Govind Mopkar from St. Xavier College Mapusa-Goa
