The MA Women’s Studies Programme at Goa University recently conducted a one-day campaign, on the 22nd of July, 2016 at Government College of Arts, Science & Commerce, Khandola. The campaign was done as part of the department’s extension services as recommended by the UGC, and was centred on the issue of the Girl Child.
The activities conducted for the program included the following:

  • Screening of a short documentary followed by a discussion.
  • Poster competition for students
  • Face painting competition
  • Skit competition for all participants

The topics for the competitions were ‘Save the Girl Child’ & ‘Stop Female Foeticide’. The program was attended by approximately 70 students of the college Prizes were awarded to the winners and mementos were given to all participants. The event was coordinated by Asst. Prof. AreshNaik of the Psychology department of Government College of Arts, Science & Commerce, Khandola.
