The Department of Computer Science, Government College of Arts, Science and Commerce, Khandola Goa in association with Computer Society of India (CSI) – Goa Chapter had organized a Goa State Level “CSI DISCOVER THINKING QUIZ” competition, for High school students from VI to IX standard. The aim of the quiz was to encourage young learners to discover information and communication technology (ICT) in a fun way. Over 21 schools from the state had participated, with one team from each school consisting of two students.

Competition started with the elimination round consisting of written test. All 21 teams answered the written test and out of which only top 05 teams were qualified for next round that is onstage round. The qualified teams for onstage round were People’s High School, Panaji; Loyola High School, Margao; Mustifund High School, Panaji; St. Joseph High School, Pernem and Sharada English High School, Marcela.

After the final onstage round 1st , 2nd and 3rd place was secured by People’s High School, Panaji; Loyola High School,Margao and Sharada English High School,Marcela respectively.
Mr. Ramrao Wagh (Chairperson, CSI – Goa Chapter) and Mrs. Shailaja Sardessai(Secretary, CSI Goa Chapter) were the chief guests for the valedictory function. Principal I/C, Dr. Seema Rath welcomed the gathering for the valedictory function. Ms. Anna Gracy Fernandes(Professor, Department of Computer Science) introduced the guests and Ms. Sujata Gaonkar (HOD, Department of Computer Science) proposed the vote of thanks.

The 1st, 2nd, 3rd place winners of the quiz competition were awarded cash prizes of Rs. 3000, Rs. 2000, Rs. 1000 respectively and merit certificates and all the participants were given participation certificates. The Loyola High School, Margao was selected to represent Goa at the National Finals to be conducted at K L University Koneru (AP) by Computer Society of India.
